The Confederation of Community Groups is an umbrella organisation for voluntary and community groups in the Newry and Mourne area. It offers advice, practical support, services and training through a number of projects and services. Its work is funded by the District Council, Government Departments as well as a variety of independent bodies. The Confederation's current annual turnover is £1m. It employs 28 people and is managed by a voluntary Management Committee drawn from its Newry & Mourne Voluntary & Community Groups.

Projects & Services

Finance & Services Department

This Department serves a dual role in that it provides support to all the projects carried out on behalf of the Confederation of Community Groups and also ensures that best use is made of the premises (Ballybot House & Annexe). Ballybot House services and facilities are separately highlighted under the Ballybot House Conference facilities web page.

Finance
The regular monitoring and updating of Financial Controls helps to ensure that the Confederation of Community Group's financial systems are at the forefront of recognised good practice in the Voluntary and Community sector. The Finance and Services department supports the Confederation of Community Groups projects by helping to identify and secure funding for future programmes and by effectively controlling expenditure ensures that all agreed budgetary controls are adhered to.

Human Resources
The Finance and Services department plays a key role in the Advertising, Recruitment and Development of all personnel in the Confederation. All policies relating to recruitment and work place activities are regularly monitored and updated in line with changes in legislation and member groups requesting advice and information on related matters are kept advised.

The Confederation in acknowledging that its Human Resources (staff) are its most important asset is currently working towards the Investing in People Quality award which it hopes to achieve in late 2005.
